Bible teaching and meeting physical needs in Mozambique

Bible teaching and meeting physical needs in Mozambique

– profiling a Walk Thru the Bible-supported

children’s project in Gwara-Gwara

This project is facilitated by the Agape Family Church Beira and aims to meet the spiritual as well as the physical needs of people in Gwara Gwara in the Buzi District in Mozambique. Here lives have been severely impacted by recent floods. Families have been displaced, leaving many people homeless. Lives have been lost and infrastructure destroyed.

This farming project provides for the feeding of children and their immediate families. Beneficiaries are both members of the church, as well as villagers who are in need as a result of the floods or have been placed there by the Mozambican government. With support received, the Church has been able to buy organic rice seeds and food for the beneficiaries. People who are part of the programme are also now able to produce their own food.

The programme also ministers to the spiritual needs of the community. The wife of the pastor at the Gwara Gwara Church has been running an outreach programme and has customised the content of the Bible teaching to the challenges faced by the community. We are grateful that in spite of the many natural disasters and a growing number of beneficiaries, Agape has consistently been able to conduct sessions of the outreach programme.

otLIVE arrives in Zimbabwe

otLIVE arrives in Zimbabwe

We praise God for the first otLIVE Instructors trained in Zimbabwe!

This was a group of 25 school teachers, pastors and children’s workers from the Harare, Victoria Falls and Bulawayo areas who were trained in August 2022.

What a joy it was to see their excitement as they learnt how to teach children the Bible! This was also an enthusiastic group that eagerly took up the challenge to master the otLIVE hand signs.

Our grateful thanks go to Pastor Jeremiah from a local church who helped to organize the training. Having previously seen a video of otLIVE being taught in Malawian schools, he felt the need for otLIVE to be taught in Zimbabwean schools too.

There is such great potential for otLIVE to reach the children in Zimbabwean schools! Please pray with us for this to be realized!

Many of these new Zimbabwean instructors have already started teaching otLIVE in schools. May many children come to know and love God and His Word through this.

otLIVE off to a great start in Zambian schools

“We have been waiting for this”

We are so excited about the recent training of otLIVE instructors in the town of Kitwe in the Copper Belt of Zambia. The training was held at a local school and was for teachers and children’s ministry workers.

These new otLIVE instructors now plan to reach children in the schools in the Kitwe area and were a very enthusiastic bunch.

They excitedly relate…

We have been waiting for otLIVE. We have heard what is happening with otLIVE in schools in South Africa and we also wanted otLIVE in here in Zambia!

We look forward to great reports of otLIVE in schools in Zambia!

God’s Answer to AIDS

God’s Answer to AIDS

” I thank the God who reigns

for the fruit

that there still is

from this course”

I have used God’s Answer to Aids extensively in prison ministry over the years. We have always regarded this as ‘Rolls Royce Curriculum’ because of the amount of LifeChange we saw from this course, and it has been wonderful to observe God at Work! I have been SO encouraged to discover ‘Harvest Fruit’ still blossoming from this course and have been praising God for this. May this story be as much of an encouragement to you as it has been to me…
In 2008 I was doing God’s Answer to Aids in one of the prisons, working through all the pre-release guys so that their parole requirements were met. In one of the groups was John **. He sat right in front, attended every session, listened intently and never took his eyes off my face. When we did the Forgiveness Lesson, he came to me afterwards to ask if I would help him to find forgiveness in the Lord Jesus. Right there and then, putting his hand on his chest, he said, “You see Ma’am, there is much to forgive.” That day he accepted Christ as His Saviour, finished the course and went out into a hard world.

I have prayed for John since then, but we lost contact over the years. This year I have become more and more burdened for him and have been praying earnestly that the Lord would lead me to him.

In August, I received this SMS: ”Afternoon Mama, I hope you are well. I have beenlooking for you for a long time, it’s John, one of your kids from prison. Can we meet up? I’m so glad that I finally get the chance to chat with you. Remember you are theone who changed my life and I’m still a man of God.

Well we did meet up. He came with his wife and 4 year old daughter. We had a wonderful reunion. He is actively involved in a church fellowship; and meets up with other ex prisoners -sometimes also for Bible study. Johnis employed in a shop and trains security personnel. He has told me that when they were doing a security check on him, there was not even a record of his prison sentence!

I will continue to meet with John and his wife to disciple them. And I have been praising God for the work He has done in John’s life over these years. I thank the God who reigns for the fruit that there still is from God’s Answer to Aids!

(With thanks to Ruth for this story)

Winning children and their families to Christ

Winning children and their families to Christ

Eagle Youth Empowerment is a Walk Thru the Bible-supported Children’s Project

run by Living Hope Tabernacle Church of the Nazarene.

The aftercare programme aims to impact children from Jabulani spiritually, physically and mentally and to support their academics. This has left the community wanting more of the programme.

As a result of the time invested by the facilitators, the programme has been successful in winning children and their families to Christ. According to Pastor Nkosi of Living Hope Tabernacle, “We have also seen a great improvement in the behaviour of the children and even in their academics, in some cases even a total transformation.”

Reaching out to other churches
Eagle Youth Empowerment hosted a Kidz At Heart training event run by Walk Thru the Bible to train the project facilitators. It was a joy to also invite children’s workers from different churches in Soweto to be part of this training – to better equip them to teach the Word of God to children.

In order to meet the needs of impoverished families, Eagle Youth Empowerment runs a feeding scheme every afternoon for 100 children in the programme. They have also assisted some of the most impoverished families with grocery packs.

A recent holiday camp hosted by Eagle Youth Empowerment catered for 90 children where spiritual, mental, physical and psychological activities were presented -as well as providing three full meals a day.

“We are grateful for every child and family that have been impacted by this programme and changed by hearing the Word of God which the volunteers bring.”
