ttt4c Update

Only in South Africa can you drive through snow on Monday, and swim in the sea at the end of the same week!

Ttt4c has had an exciting few months – starting with our second Sondelani training event (8 – 12 June) for our SEED church partners. This time we drove to KwaZulu-Natal and caught the cold snap, driving through a snow storm near Harrismith. We were at the peaceful Jacob’s Well conference centre overlooking the Valley of a Thousand Hills, and we worked hard studying Project Management, Fundraising and Sustainability. On one afternoon we visited Addington Primary School where one of our SEED churches, Westville Baptist, runs a valuable homework aftercare programme for inner city children, many of whom come from other African countries and need support in understanding English. As Addington is on the beachfront, we took everyone to the beach – one of our pastors from Soweto who is 64 years old had never been to the sea before and he loved standing in the water and getting his feet covered in sea sand!

Back in Johannesburg, we had a few days to prepare for our Dutch visitors, Jan and Erik. They are board members of ttt4c Netherlands, a registered organisation that fundraises on our behalf in the Netherlands. We enjoyed their company for 5 days (24 – 28 June) and took them to see various SEED projects and churches, to get an understanding of what the new SEED Strategy involves. We believe that they have returned home with a new interest and excitement about the work God has given us to do, equipping local churches to meet the needs of vulnerable children through sustainable community initiatives.
