Sowing the SEED

This year has seen the ttt4c team conduct the SEED Strategy phase 1 training with our 7 pilot churches, as well as interested projects.

We started with an Introduction to Community Development in April, which highlighted how we can approach communities sensitively and respectfully to engage in an equal working partnership. A fun and practical tool was used - the CBO Health Check - which uses the illustration of a house to talk about how to build community organisations.

In July, we did another course on Community Development, this time showing 3 practical tools to encourage active and genuine participation of community members in sustainable initiatives. Participants enjoyed learning easy and fun ways of working with communities, especially in areas where literacy levels are low.

We thoroughly enjoyed our final training week in the bush in late September, learning about project management and sustainability. A key element that we learned about as leaders was to acknowledge the strengths God has given us and to affirm ourselves for who we are. The ttt4c team enjoyed seeing our project and SEED church representatives being able to network effectively and share experiences and skills – this is the dream we have for SEED, that many seeds of wisdom, information and insight will be sown in our training and networking sessions. Praise the Lord!

We have sent out SEED Starter packs for churches to join in the Strategy for 2009 and hope to finalise the intake phase with new churches by the end of November 2008.
